Over 73,000 benefit from universal health scheme: Governor Vajubhai Vala

Over 73,000 people from the State have benefited from 'Ayushman Bharat- Arogya Karnataka' scheme in the current year, said Governor Vajubhai Vala during his Republic Day address at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground here on Saturday. The scheme provides 100 per cent financial assistance for medical treatments up to ₹ 5 lakh for Below Poverty Line families and 30 per cent of government package rates with overall annual limit of ₹ 1.5 lakh for Above Poverty Line (APL) families.
In his fourth Republic Day address, after unfurling the national flag and inspecting the guard of honour, Mr. Vala said that the state was restoring critical infrastructure such as roads and bridges in flood affected areas in Kodagu district. The State government has also taken up work of constructing 840 houses at a cost of ₹ 9.85 lakh per house, he added.
Stating that the State was facing severe drought, he said, a total of 100 taluks during Kharif and 156 Taluks during Rabi had been declared drought-affected.
