Former CBI director Alok Verma on Friday, 11 January, resigned from the IPS after refusing to take over as DG Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guard, a post to which he was transferred by the High Powered Selection Committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
