DK hails Stalin’s stand on Rahul

Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani on Tuesday said the DMK had shown the way forward in national politics after its president M.K. Stalin backed Congress president Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing reporters after the party’s executive council meeting at Periyar Thidal in Chennai, Mr. Veeramani said, “Secular forces that have not yet joined the 21 parties that are already with UPA must join hands and ensure that secular votes are not split in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019. The BJP and its allies should be convincingly defeated.”
The Dravidar Kazhagam will conduct a ‘Caste and Untouchability Annihilation’ conference in Hosur, where inter-caste couple Nandhish and Swathi were killed on December 30, he said. This conference will be attended by DMK’s allies such as the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, the Marumalarchi Dravidar Munnetra Kazhagam, the CPI (M) and CPI.
Dravidar Kazhagam will organise a public meeting in Thanjavur on March 30 and 31 next year where, sources said, a number of demands would be put forth to deal with growing instances of caste-based discrimination and disturbances in T.N.
