CPI(M), BLP alliance fails to make impact

Communist Party of India (Marxist) stands out as one political party the gradual decimation of which has been consummated in the recently concluded State Assembly election. Almost all the candidates fielded by the party have lost their deposits, apart from those fielded on behalf of Bahujan Left Party, which the CPI(M) has been steering from behind.
In fact, in majority of the constituencies votes for BLP were fewer than those polled for NOTA. CPI(M) stalwart Julakanti Ranga Reddy, who had won thrice earlier from the Miryalaguda constituency, had to taste his worst-ever defeat. He stood fourth after an independent candidate, with a little over 11,000 votes.
