MLA asks bus owners to give free ride to VHP convention attendees

Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners’ Association, the umbrella organisation of private city bus operators in Mangaluru, has asked its members to ferry, free of cost, those attending the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Janagraha convention — to urge building of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya — to be held in the city on November 25.
In a release, association president Dilraj Alva and secretary Prakash Shekha have said the Mangaluru South MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath had made the request. Mr. Alva told that if the buses are exclusively given for the convention, the public would get affected.
Hence, the association has decided not to collect the ticket fare from those attending the convention at Nehru Maidan, and all members have agreed for the same, he said. Meanwhile, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State president Muneer Katipalla urged the people to question the move as it would be “aiding divisive and communal politics”.
