New Inter-Caste Marriage Law Will Be Legislated: Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole

Amid the reports of honour killings across the country, Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole said that there should be an inter-caste marriage act that will protect the couples from social evil, family problems, and honour killings.

Badole pointed out that there are separate marriage laws for Muslims, Parsis, and Christians. Apart from this, marriages in other communities are registered under Hindu Marriage Act 1995 and Special Marriage Act. Both these laws do not have provisions for the protection of an inter-caste couple, said Badole.

The protection of women demands an inter-caste marriage law to protect them from social boycott and abuse. The social justice minister said that in the law legal protection will be provided legal protection and financial assistance for their future.
