Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has to choose between politics and development and accept the ₹16,500 crore under special package if he wants to work for the progress of the State instead of harping on the Special Category Status (SCS), BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana has said.
On AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s promise that if voted to power his party would grant the SCS, Mr. Lakshminarayana said Mr. Gandhi was not fully informed about it. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was made to make a statement on the SCS as an eyewash since it could not be included in the Reorganisation Act, he said at a press conference here on Friday. Instead of talking about the SCS, Mr. Naidu should focus on making the fullest use of the package, he said.
