Tamil Nadu doctors demand better career progression programme

A government doctor, who had completed 13 years in service in Tamil Nadu, earned ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 lesser than his counterpart in the Central government. It will take another seven years in service for him/her to reach an equal pay structure.
For almost 10 years, government doctors in the State have been demanding implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) — elevation after completion of 4, 9 and 13 years of service.
“What we have got in Tamil Nadu is DACP in a diluted form. DACP was implemented for Central government doctors following the Fifth Pay Commission. In Tamil Nadu, DACP was implemented following the Sixth Pay Commission, but it is after 15, 17 and 19 years in service. So, what a Central government doctor receives after four years, we get it after 15 years in service. We want this disparity to go,” said A. Ramalingam, member of Joint Action Committee of Government Doctors Association (JACGDA).
