Former Minister Sogadu Shivanna on Saturday sought the police to register cases against Food, Civil Supplies, Minority and Wakf Department Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan for his statements on those Muslims who voted for the BJP.

The Minister had recently stated that those Muslims who voted for the BJP were not genuine Muslims. "Zameer Ahmed Khan is a communal element. The police should act voluntarily and book him," he told reporters.

"He belongs to Muhammad Ali Jinnah clan. His statements affect harmony in the society. There is a need to curb such elements from making irresponsible statement affecting country's unity, he said. "We should not affect harmony in the society. There is a need to preserve the Hindu culture or we will be spoiled," he said.
