While rain-battered Kerala is hobbling back to normalcy, relief, in the form of financial aid has come from all parts of the world. However, many have also criticised the Centre over the quantum of financial aid offered to the state. The latest to join the critics’ bandwagon is former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy who has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi while pointing out that instead of calling it a calamity of ‘severe nature’, the Centre should declare it a ‘national calamity’ to ensure better rehabilitation.
