Over a dozen dead in Kerala in rain-related mishaps since last night

As many as 20 persons are feared dead in rain-related incidents in different parts of Kerala on Thursday. Eight persons belonging to two families perished when earth caved in on their homes at Nenmara near the Pothundy dam in Palakkad early this morning. Rescue workers confirmed the eight deaths and said four members of the two families had been rescued with minor injuries. They expressed the fear that a few more bodies could be trapped under the debris. Details of the tragedy are awaited. Four persons were killed in a landslide at Vennikkulam at Teekoy in the eastern parts of Kottayam districts. Three were rescued and moved to a nearby hospital.
