Government order an eyewash: Stalin

DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Monday described the Government Order directing the closure of the Sterlite Copper smelter in Thoothukudi as an eyewash and a drama.
Talking to reporters after meeting party MLAs ahead of the Assembly session, which begins on Tuesday, the Opposition leader said, “It [the G.O.] is like telling [the company] — you go to court and get the relief.”
As a responsible Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami should have taken action against the DGP, the DIG and other senior law enforcement officers for the police firing. But no action had been taken, he said, adding, “We will raise all these issues in the Assembly tomorrow.”
