Gujarat Govt questioned Over Unspent Grant

  • The CAG pulled up the Gujarat govt for not developing a “monitoring mechanism” for the DST.
     
  • It also stated that it has “failed to monitor” the utilization of grants-in-aid by its subordinate institutes.
     
  • The CAG was pointing out at the Rs 181 crore of unspent grant lying in the Dept of Science and Technology (DST).

  • CAG in its report said that an incorrect utilization certificate was furnished to the DST.
     
  • The CAG report said, “DST was not developed to monitor mechanism to ensure the surrendering of the unutilized portion of grants by its institutions after the end of the financial year.
