Manipur : 25 schools selected for development mission

Twenty five schools have been selected in the first phase for the implementation of BJP led coalition government’s School Fagathansi Mission-an initiative to develop government schools in Manipur. The programme is under state government mission ‘Go to Village’.
“Out of 60 schools, 25 were selected for the implementation and execution of the mission in the Phase-I,” said Manipur Education and Labour and Employment Minister Th Radheshyam on Tuesday. He said this while inspecting a number of educational institutions in  Ukhrul district headquarters, 84 km north of Imphal.
Meanwhile, the foundation stone laying ceremony for the improvement of School Fagathansi Mission Schools which was scheduled to be held on August 7, has been postponed to mourn former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s demise.
The mission which launched by Chief Minister N Biren Singh at Yumnam Huidrom High School on January 18 this year, aims towards overall improvement of government schools in terms of physical and manpower infrastructural gaps, increase in enrollment in government schools and improvement in results of students in public examinations.
