Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA N. Karthik has urged the Tasmac officials in Coimbatore to comply with Coimbatore Collector’s order by closing the shop in Balan Nagar ‘C’ Colony or face protest and legal action. Addressing reporters here recently, he said that after repeated representations from him and residents of the area, Collector T.N. Hariharan had on October 15 issued an order for closure of the shop, which was located in a thickly populated area with a hospital in the vicinity. He had marked a copy to the Coimbatore City Police as well, but the Peelamedu Police feigned ignorance on the issue. There was also a Madras High Court order on a resident’s petition asking the administration to submit within a month a report on the ground reality regarding the opposition to the shop.
