Agri Gold flourished during Cong. rule: Kutumba Rao

Hitting back at BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana’s allegation that the TDP government was responsible for the AgriGold scandal and his call for protests from October 22, A.P. Planning Board vice-chairman C. Kutumba Rao said on Saturday that it was during the Congress rule between 2004 and 2014 that the company’s deposits grew to about ₹6,400 crore from just ₹84 crore in the previous two years.
Mr. Lakshminarayana was the Minister for Cooperation at that time and he should remember that the Congress government knew that AgriGold was an unregistered non-banking finance company that floated the collective investment scheme, which devoured the hard-earned money of lakhs of gullible people, Mr. Rao said.
