Hailstones accompanied by heavy rains have become a usual occurrence in Meghalaya and although it might be a source of delight for many nature lovers, the same has caused destruction to property in many parts of Meghalaya today afternoon.
In a series of pictures circulated in various social media handles of a village called Riangdo in West Khasi Hills, it has been seen that hailstones bearing the size of a stone have caused destruction to various houses in many villages.
Upon inquiring the matter with the DC of West Khasi Hills, Arunkumar Kembhavi informed that “The hailstone has caused destruction to property. We are doing the estimation and the matter is being remotely monitored. We have also been distributing relief materials including food since morning to the affected families and the process is still on”.
