According to Sapdanga, he and sitting ZPM MLA Dr. Vanlalthlana visited the national capital last week and met officials of ECI over party registration. He also claimed that the alliance has completed all formalities and is awaiting intimation from the poll panel about the registration.
“The ZPM is moving on to become a single party. We have completed all formalities for registration. The alliance is now more or less a registered party,” he added. Sapdanga also claimed that the ZPM has received strong support from the people even from outside. “People are anxiously waiting for the ZPM to take its birth as a single party,” he said. Hitting out at the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) and the Congress, Sapdanga said that people are fed up of their governments.
“People want change and new system. The real and an adult government will be established in the state by the next assembly polls in 2023,” he said. Sapdanga, who is the editor of the largest circulated paper in the state, “Vanglaini,” had contested the last assembly polls from Aizawl East-I but lost to Chief Minister Zoramthanga.
The ZPM was formed initially by three parties- Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP), Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) and Zoram Exodus Movement (ZEM) in August, 2017. Later, it was joined by Mizoram People’s Party (MPP), Zoram Reformation Front (ZRF) and Zoram Democratic Front (ZDF).
