Amid boycott, call security beefed up in Manipur ahead of Modi’s visit

The security in Manipur has been beefed up ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s visit to the state on Friday. Manipur police chief LM Khaute has directed police and para-military forces to maintain strict vigil round the clock.
A 25-member Special Protection Group (SPG) team already in Manipur coordinating the security measures by the state and central forces.
Police said that cordon and search operations were being conducted in trouble-prone areas. Some insurgents including those on bail had been detained. Some guns and explosives were also seized during the police operations.
