Karnataka gets second agri-engineering college

Agriculture Minister Shivashankar Reddy inaugurated Karnataka's second agriculture engineering college on Tuesday. Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) campus, near Hebbal, Bengaluru, will house the second agri-engineering college of the state.

After inaugurating the agriculture engineering department, Reddy said: "Practising agriculture with technical qualifications, has developed much. Today's challenge is processing agri products. I expect this engineering course to find solutions to this challenge".

"Agriculture education in India has maintained high credibility. There is no dearth of jobs for its graduates because agriculture is the main occupation in India. By launching this agri-engineering course, we will use technology to reduce manual input, and better the yield," said A B Patil, Registrar, Agriculture University, Bengaluru.
