All schools, colleges, and government offices in Tamil Nadu will remain open on Thursday, following the public holiday that was announced as a mark of respect to the demise of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi on Tuesday evening. The Tamil Nadu government declared a seven-day mourning and public holiday following the DMK chief’s demise. All the liquor stores were ordered to be closed by 6 PM on the day of his demise.
