Following the foot-step of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has also forwarded a petition received from Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) India urging to amend the law of Nagaland to award death penalty as punishment for child rape.
While extending support to the petition himself, Governor Acharya forwarded the same to the Chief Minister’s Office for necessary legislation on the matter.
The letter, addressed to the Governor, said, “It is every one’s responsibility for protection of the girl child and while there are many areas to tackle, an important aspect is severe punishment to the perpetrators.”
