Centre not responsible for the internet ban during protests, claims Home Ministry
The Ministry of Home Affairs has answered a question in the Rajya Sabha regarding the internet shutdown.
It said that in the event of an internet shutdown, the control of the Internet is not in the hands of the Central Government.
Giving an excuse, the Ministry said that there are many challenges in cyberspace. Any information here becomes very fast viral, which remains susceptible to misuse.
On behalf of the central government, it was told in the Rajya Sabha that when an internet shutdown occurs during any violence or riot, its control is in the hands of the state government and the local administration.
Letting you know, in 2020, the Internet shutdown in India took place for 75 times in 2020. According to the reports, in the year 2020, there is a loss of about 2.5 billion dollars due to an internet ban in India.
