Not the India I grew up in, shameless moment: Twitter users object to the renaming of Motera stadium after PM Modi

  • The current renaming of the Sardar Patel stadium of Ahemdabad as Narendra Modi stadium has created an uproar among Patel's followers.
  • Twitter got flooded by thousands of tweets opposing this move. A user tweeted, "RSS is taking revenge on Sardar Patel for banning RSS."
  • Another user mocked the move, "Naming a stadium after politician name? This is not the India I grew up in. The stadium should be named after sportspeople like Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi."
  • A Twitter user wrote, "Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad is renamed as Narendra Modi stadium. This is not a proud moment. This is called a shameless moment."
  • By running the hashtag, "#SardarPatelKaApman", a user wrote, "Hitler had named the Football Stadium at Stuttgart after himself & called it the Adolf-Hitler Kampfbahn in 1933. Modi insulted Sardar Patel."
