Fuel price hike: Congress legislators hold protest, ride bicycles to the state assembly

  • The fuel price, which has seen a massive hike this month, has been continuously opposed by the opposition.
  • In order to protest against the rising fuel prices, Congress legislators in Odisha today rode bicycles to the state assembly.
  • The legislators who rode the bicycles from Congress Bhawan to the state assembly were Jeypore MLA Tara Bahinipati, Khariar MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi, and a few more.
  • Tara Bahinipati demanded that the Naveen Patnaik should cut taxes on petrol and diesel, as Chhattisgarh and Bengal have done.
  • Currently, in Odisha, the petrol price is the highest in Kalimela of Malkangiri, that is, Rs 97.45 per litre. In Bhubaneswar, it is Rs 91.64 per litre.
