Media fraternity has key role to play in bringing vibrant democratic society — Manipur minister

Manipur’s Information and Public Relations Minister Th Biswajit Singh said the media fraternity has a key role to play towards bringing vibrant democratic society.
Speaking at the two-day National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Indian Journalists’ Union (IJU) on Saturday at the conference hall of MIMS, Manipur University at Canchipur in Manipur, he encouraged the journalists to work with a vision for a better society.
As journalists are the voice to the voiceless people, reporters should maintain clarity and balance in their report, he said.
He said that journalists should perform their duties with dynamic outlook as they have to perform multiple tasks.
Highlighting the initiatives taken up by the government for the welfare of the journalists, he informed that Manipur State Journalist Welfare Scheme was first implemented in 2017 after the formation of new government.
