State conveys its decision on Guleli site to Centre

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday intimated the Union ministry of human resources development that the state government has earmarked  a tract of land for setting up the IIT Goa campus. The state cabinet on Friday  gave its approval for transferring  revenue department’s land situated at Guleli in Sattari taluka for establishing the IIT campus. Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times on Saturday,  Sawant said  the central government had given the deadline of August 31 to sort out the land acquisition issue.
“I had  given my word to the Union Minister for Human Resources Development that the state government would finalise land for the IIT project. Accordingly, the cabinet on Friday gave its nod for transferring the land owned by the revenue department situated at Guleli in Sattari.  I have intimated  the ministry about the same,” he disclosed. Now the site selection committee will visit Goa to inspect the land finalised by the state government, the Chief Minister said. “As promised, we have finalised land and intimidated the ministry. Now it is up to the central HRD ministry to see whether the particular land is feasible or not,” he emphasised.
