Vishwajit assures speedy compensation to flood-hit people in Sattari

Health Minister and Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane said that the flood-affected families in Sattari will be compensated at the earliest as he will try to ensure speedy process of granting claims. Rane, who held a disaster management meeting along with North Goa Collector R Meneka, Sattari deputy collector, Mangaldas Gaonkar and various heads of government departments at Valpoi, said it was the first time in two decades that he had seen such a drastic rise in water levels in Sattari. Rane said that the damage and loss of property caused due to flooding will be inspected and assessed as per directions of Collector.
“A joint inspection committee comprising sarpanchas, panchayat members and talathis will undertake damage assessment in rain-hit areas across Sattari from Wednesday. Data will be compiled in eight days and a report will then be submitted to the government,” he said. He later visited several flood-hit areas in the taluka to take stock of the situation and also visited affected families. He reviewed the situation in villages of Sonal, Derode, Kodal and Velus. “I have given instructions for necessary and prompt action and also instructed the control room to work efficiently,” Rane stated.
