NSCN (IM) accuses Indian govt. of dishonouring its commitment

The ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk appears to have hit a roadblock after several rounds of talks spanning over 22 years if the latest statement from the NSCN (IM) is any indication.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the NSCN (IM) Chairman Q Tuccu and its General Secretary (Chief Negotiator) Th Muivah have expressed doubt in the sincerity of the Indian government to solve the Naga political issue and lamented that the talks that were supposed to take place at the highest level has been reduced to the governor’s level.
“We are happy to learn that (from) MR. RN Ravi, the interlocutor, at the formal talk on 26th July 2019 that you are committed to solving the Indo-Naga political problem within a three-months time. However, there are still some core issues like Flag and constitution which are yet to be agreed upon between the two parties (sic),” read the statement from NSCN (IM).
The group said the commitment given by successive Prime Ministers of India that the talk will be at the highest level; venue of the talk will be outside India, in a third country; and without any pre-condition, has been dishonoured.
“We have come to India on the invitation of the Prime Minister of India and several rounds of talks have been successfully held and the 3rd August 2015 Framework Agreement was signed in your presence. However, we are surprised that the talk is now reduced to a mere governor’s level,” read the statement.
“Both parties have been patiently negotiating for the last 22 years and we are committed to working out an honourable solution. But, the recent changes and developments have created confusion and doubt in the mind of our people if an honourable political solution can be arrived at,” it added.
