LG panel expedited regularisation, not AAP government: Manoj Tiwari

BJP on Friday alleged that the AAP government was falsely taking credit for expediting regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Delhi and accused it instead of delaying the work. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said the work on regularisation of unauthorised colonies had been fast-tracked after a panel headed by LG Anil Baijal gave its report to the Union housing and urban affairs minister. “Now, there is no scope for the Kejriwal government to stall it,” Tiwari claimed.

“The chief minister on Thursday said the Centre has agreed to Delhi government’s proposal for regularisation of 1,797 unauthorised colonies and lakhs of people will be given ownership rights to their houses. The reality is that the government has been delaying the work on this front,” the BJP MP alleged. When contacted, the AAP spokesperson did not respond to phone calls or text messages. The CM on Thursday announced that residents of unauthorised colonies in Delhi will soon have ownership rights of their houses. Tiwari, however, credited Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri for his efforts to provide ownership rights to the residents of unauthorised colonies. He said the Modi government had issued a gazette notification on 1st January 2015, directing the process of regularising unauthorised colonies in which the area covered by construction was over 50%.

“The AAP government not only hid the order but continued to mislead people that if Modi government comes to power in 2019, it will raze down unauthorised colonies,” Tiwari alleged. Share to Twitter
