Nadkarni won’t represent Goa in SC, NGT, Mhadei tribunal

The state cabinet on Friday decided to withdraw senior advocate and additional solicitor general of India Atmaram Nadkarni from representing the state in all matters in the Supreme Court, the National Green Tribunal and the Mahadayi (Mhadei) Water Disputes Tribunal. The cabinet meeting, which  was chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, was held at the assembly complex on Friday afternoon.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said that since new Advocate General Devidas Pangam has been handling all the legal matters pertaining to Goa in the apex court and before the tribunals, the cabinet has decided to withdraw the order pertaining to Nadkarni. The cabinet also gave its  approval for  forming department of rural development, replacing the rural development agency.
Minister for Rural Development Michael Lobo told said  that henceforth the RDA will be known as the department of rural development, adding that the cabinet also  approved  creation of posts for the new department. The cabinet also gave ex-post facto approval to the extension of service of chief electrical engineer Reshma Mathew for six months.
