The proposal of the government to construct Samadhi of former chief minister Manohar Parrikar – a memorial in his memory – at Miramar is in the pipeline.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, after taking charge of his office on March 19, earlier this year had stated that a memorial of the departed chief minister would shortly be constructed at Miramar, where Parrikar was cremated.
“We intend to construct his Samadhi, adjacent to another existing Samadhi dedicated to the first chief minister of Goa, Bhausaheb Bandodkar,” Sawant had added, pointing out that more details about the same would be revealed in the coming days.
The location where Parrikar was cremated on March 18, 2019, had been secured by the government, and protected with tin barricades. However, during last three-and-a-half months, the site appeared to be in a state of neglect.
