Assam MP Ripun Bora opposes oil fields’ privatisation in Rajya Sabha

Congress’ Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora on Wednesday demanded the central government to stop privatisation of 64 oil fields in India.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, Ripun Bora, who is also the president of AssamPradesh Congress Committee president, said that the ‘move will benefit only a section of private organisatons’.
Referring to a notice issued by the ministry of petroleum on June 29, 2019 inviting offer for privatiasation of 64 oil fields, Bora said that Oil India Limited and ONGC are the biggest public sector undertakings and contributing to the economy of the country by extracting crude oil and natural gas from 64 oil fields across India.
