Notices to govt. over PIL on RTE Act

Admitting a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over violation of different provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE Act), the Telangana High Court on Monday issued notices to the government.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther posted the plea for hearing after four weeks.
The petitioner, Vijay Gopal from Tarnaka, sought to declare non-implementation of sections 18 and 19 of the Act (which mandate that no school should operate without obtaining government recognition certificate) as illegal.
The petitioner also requested the HC to ensure all the private schools in the State comply with section 14 of the Act. As per this section, all private schools should publish form-I (self declaration cum application for school recognition).
He also wanted the court to instruct the government to constitute the Right to Eduction Protection Authority (REPA) as per the Act.
