RTC JAC to meet CM today

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the AP State Road Transport Corporation’s Employees’ Unions will announce its stand on the proposed strike after meeting Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the corporation’s Vice-Chairman and Managing Director N.V. Surendra Babu on Tuesday, JAC convener P. Damodar Rao said the management had agreed to fulfil many of the demands and they would take a final stand after the meeting with the Chief Minister. The JAC’s meeting with Mr. Jagan did not materialise on Tuesday. Mr. Damodar Rao said the unions wanted to meet the Chief Minister to thank him for starting the process of merger with the government immediately after assuming charge.
Mr. Jagan, at the time of his padayatra, had promised that if his party was voted to power, he would merge the cash-strapped RTC with the government. Terming the meeting ‘fruitful,’ Mr. Rao said the management had agreed not to lay off employees and also to take into confidence the union leaders in key decisions related to the employees’ issues.
