Mizoram Lokayukta instructs ACB to probe officer over corruption

Mizoram Lokayukta, a newly established anti-corruption ombudsman, has instructed the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB ) to probe an official for allegedly hoarding public money in his private bank account, an official said on Sunday.
In an order issued on Saturday, the anti-corruption ombudsman chairman C Lalsawta instructed the ACB to launch preliminary inquiry against civil aviation wing principal consultant J Lalhmingliana for allegedly stashing away public money of over Rs 1 crore in his bank account, the official said.
The ACB was asked to initiate preliminary probe as per section 19(1) of Mizoram Lokayukta Act, 2104 and submit its report at the earliest. The order was issued following a complaint filed by Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MYC).
On April 26, the Congress youth wing had submitted separate complaint to chief minister Zoramthanga and the Lokayukta chairman asking the duo to probe into the alleged hoarding.
