No earlier governments dared to arrest Yasin Mallik: Amit Shah

BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said that no earlier governments dared to arrest Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Yasin Mallik.
'It is the Narendra Modi government at the Centre which arrested J&K separatist leader Yasin Mallik and put him behind bars,' Mr Shah said while addressing an election rally in Manas under Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district.
No earlier governments had dared to arrest him, he said and added that the Congress hardly took any action against separatist leaders in the Valley when it was in power at the Centre.
He said the declaration by the Congress to repeal sedition law would give boost to terrorists and anti-India elements in the country.
'While the Congress vows to scrape sedition law, the BJP promises to do away with Article 370,' he said.
Accusing the Congress of being soft towards Pakistan, he said the Modi government at the Centre never compromised on the issue of security of the country and chose to give a befitting reply to Pakistan.
Exuding confidence that the 2019 general elections would return Mr Modi to power, he said he had toured 282 Lok Sabha constituencies since January 2016 and could see a pro-Modi wave across these constituencies.
Taking a swipe at Congress' Nyay scheme, which aims to provide Rs 72,000 per annum to each of the poor families in the country, he questioned why the Congress, which was in power at the Centre for 55 years, could not eradicate poverty.
