State’s multi-pronged security ensured incident-free election

Security measures adopted during the election process appear to have helped the police to achieve incident-free polling. Proper surveillance at the border check-posts, preventive action against troublemakers, quick-response teams, police patrolling, flag marches in vulnerable areas, nakabandis and the police presence proved deterrence, police said adding that no law and order situation was reported on the polling day.
“On the polling day, we had put nakabandi points at 56 different locations which included the vulnerable areas,” said DIG Parmaditya.
“With the effective deployment of police control room (PCR) vehicles and the quick response teams (QRT), there was a visible presence of the police. There was no untoward incident reported on the polling day,” informed Parmaditya.
He further said that police inspectors of police stations as well as sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) were briefed and directed to monitor the situation in the area and maintain law and order. “They were also asked to remain alert and collect intelligence,” said Parmaditya.
