Tech helped smooth conduct of polls

The State election authority’s decision to deploy technologies went a long way in ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of the just-concluded elections to the Lok Sabha as well as the Assembly polls in December.
The Chief Electoral Officer’s office deployed several IT applications, including the cVIGIL to detect code violations by the candidates. In addition, control rooms had been set up at the CEO’s office which monitored the content broadcast through different television channels round-the-clock since the announcement of the schedule on March 10. Teams of professionals were stationed in the control room set up at the CEO’s office while social media experts kept a watch on the developments from the “war room”, an enclosure created in the CEO’s office where the content of all the digital media was monitored throughout.
