Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil faces heat within Congress

A day after Dr Sujay, son of Opposition Party leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat has questioned commitment of Vikhe-Patil to the party. Thorat and Vikhe-Patil are party rival since past two generations in Ahmednagar district. Thorat, former minister, is a close confidant of party president Rahul Gandhi and permanent invitee of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
Dr Sujay, neurosurgeon by profession, joined the BJP on Tuesday, causing a major embarrassment to the Congress. He had said he did not consult his father before joining the BJP. Sujay is expected to get a BJP ticket from the Ahmednagar seat in the Lok Sabha polls. Thorat, who is a staunch political rival of Vikhe Patil in Ahmednagar district, asked his senior party colleague to make his stand clear on his son joining the BJP.
