Odisha Bandh: Farmers Raise Voice Against Govt For Price, Pension & Prestige

Lakhs of farmers under the aegis of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) are observing a 12-hour statewide shutdown in Odisha over their long-standing demands of price, pension and prestige. Normal life has been affected in several parts of the State due to the bandh.
In Bhubaneswar, members of the NNKS staged protests near Patia-Nandankanan road early in the morning and blocked roads by burning tyres. Similar protests were also witnessed near Master Canteen area and other places of the city.
Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu said, 10 platoons of police force have been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident in the capital city. “We want to ensure that normalcy in vehicular communication is not affected because it is exam time and students of under-matric level are appearing their exams,” said Sahu.
