‘Law and order paralysed in Shivamogga’

Ayanur Manjunath, MLC has written a letter to M.B. Patil, Home Minister requesting him to visit Shivamogga district and review the law and order situation here.
It may be mentioned here that three youths who had allegedly consumed ganja had assaulted a constable in Kumsi village recently. A constable was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on January 4 while allegedly accepting a bribe from a person involved in transportation of sand. Two senior police officers said to be involved in the incident had taken anticipatory bail to avoid arrest.
Referring to these incidents in the letter, Mr. Manjunath has said the law and order mechanism has become paralysed in the district. The Police and Excise Departments have failed to control illegal cultivation and sale of ganja. Cases of crimes committed under the influence of ganja are being reported regularly here, he said.
