While the seat-sharing issues between the Congress and the JD(S) are still on, it is said that Sumalatha, actor and wife of actor-politician late M.H. Ambareesh, was approached by some people urging her to contest the Lok Sabha election from Mandya.
A group of Mr. Ambareesh’s supporters met Ms. Sumalatha at her residence in Bengaluru on Friday and urged her to contest the election. Later, she assured them of “considering their demands”.
According to the supporters, Ms. Sumalatha said the the demise of Ambareesh had caused more loss to the people than the family, and the family “never wants to lose the bond and connection of Mandya”. This is the second time in the last two weeks that Ambareesh’s supporters have met Ms. Sumalatha in Bengaluru to demand her candidature from Mandya.
