Hoardings call Priyanka Gandhi Ganga Ki Beti ahead of UP cabinet meet

hoardings calling Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the daughter of the river Ganga -- "Ganga Ki Beti" -- were spotted today in Prayagraj, home to the Kumbh Mela.
They had photos of Rahul, Priyanka, Sonia and Indira Gandhi, and bore the caption: "Ganga Ki Beti Jeetegi UP".
This, ahead of a cabinet meeting that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was scheduled to chair in the city, formerly known as Allahabad. The BJP leader will take a dip in the Ganga after the meet.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was appointed the Congress's general secretary in eastern Uttar Pradesh this month -- a move that made her entry into politics official. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said it was a "killer blow" for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, in an interview with India Today TV.
Uttar Pradesh is home to 80 Lok Sabha constituencies -- the highest number for any Indian state, and a statistic that makes it a key battleground in the general election.
In 2014 the NDA won 73 of the 80 seats, and the BJP won a state election here handsomely in 2017. However, the saffron party has fared poorly in Uttar Pradesh bypolls since then.
This year, the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have announced that they will contest 38 seats each in Uttar Pradesh.
The Congress is not part of the alliance -- but the four seats the SP and the BSP will not contest include Amethi and Raebareli, the Lok Sabha seats of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the SP, congratulated the Congress on appointing Priyanka Gandhi as a general secretary.
