In T.N., Modi hits out at critics of 10% quota

Strongly defending the recent constitutional amendment to create 10% reservation in jobs and education for economically weaker sections (EWS), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that certain self-centred forces in Tamil Nadu were trying to create an atmosphere of suspicion and mistrust among people on the new quota.
The Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu have strongly opposed the new reservation, with the DMK and the Dravidar Kazhagam challenging it in the Madras High Court.
People’s vigilance
Against this backdrop, Mr. Modi, who was in Madurai to lay the foundation for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), urged people to be “vigilant” about such forces. He also alleged that the Opposition had come together setting aside all other considerations to “remove this watchman (him)” who would not spare “anyone who has looted the country”.
