Elections are on the way: Even the trees will hum the political tunes
The countdown for Lok Sabha Elections has begun; polling would be held in 91 parliamentary constituencies spread across 20 states on April 11 under the first of the seven-phase general elections. All the parties are applying different formulas to get a win in elections. Few are wooing voters with the never ending promises of manifestos; rest are adding the spice-tadka to their speeches. But when the recipe of sarcasm, allegations seems to fall short for the political agendas then parties are seeking for something magnificent and big; and bollywood would have worked best for it.
Politics in Bollywood
In the sequence of movies like “Thackrey”, “The Accidental Prime Minister” two more political movies are added up. First one is coming up as a promotional movie on Modi whose trailer is surpassing all the acceptable levels of advocacy before the assembly elections. It portrays the deifying image of PM Modi with cleaning up his image against Muslims by portraying only Muslims as ‘his People’. But they forgot to mark a question while idolizing Modi that was he really helpless while 2000 killings were marked in Gujrat riots out of which maximum were Muslims??
Next in support comes up a movie by Vivek Agnohtri i.e. “The Tashkent Files” in which history repeats itself with a big question mark on the death of India’s Second PM ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri’, and gives birth to a suspicion over the Congress party. Though Vivek Agnihotri has said that the movie will be released in the mid of elections due to the country's current mood but it seems to play a proxy role for “Modi” as it’s trailer is released just after the plea against “Modi” in EC for violating the Model Code of Conduct. Whatever may be the reason but it is very clear that both the movies will stir things up for the Congress Party.
Bollywood in Politics
Democracies all over the world choose their leaders in different manner; the method of choosing leaders tells a lot about the healthy being of a democracy. In democracies leaders are chosen by the people subjecting to various limitations, checks and balances as leaders are said to be the representatives of the mass.
But these days, parties have started a new trend under which people of glamour world have started leading us. Elections are supposed to be held for getting a worthy representative but now it has turned to be more of winning a seat for different parties. Fight is not for serving but to get served themselves by getting the power. In the race parties are giving the entry tickets to the bollywood faces by keeping their popularity in mind; they are keeping the needs of the country at stake for their personal interests. Candidature is decided on the basis of the popularity of the faces to get the maximum number of votes. From Urmila Martodkar, Shatrughan Sinha to Sapna Chaudhary, everyone is getting into politics for partiy’s interest not yours.
Though it is difficult to decide that is it bollywood which is getting into the politics or politics which is getting into the bollywood? But the clear stand is that movies and web series are broadcasting not to entertain you but to mislead you. You are the target so take a move wisely, vote smartly.
