AAP MP Sanjay Singh's letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman, says, NCT bill should not be presented in the house

  • The 'National Capital Territory Government (Amendment) Bill 2021' was passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
  • This bill makes it mandatory for the Delhi government to take the views of the Lieutenant Governor on any executive step. This bill is listed for discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
  • On this, Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh wrote a letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman and demanded that this bill should not be introduced in Rajya Sabha.
  • In the letter, Sanjay Singh has written, "The Legislative Assembly was formed in Delhi by the 69th amendment to the Constitution, so the changes being made through a simple bill is a violation of the Constitution of India."
  • Singh further added, "The chairman of the Rajya Sabha should direct the government to withdraw this bill which violates the provisions of the Constitution."
