Delhi govt cuts drinking age, 21-years-old or less now not allowed in shops having alcohol
The Delhi government has reduced the minimum age limit for drinking alcohol from 25 to 21 years.
This was today announced by Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia under the New Excise Policy.
According to the policy, children below 21 years of age will not be allowed to enter such premises where there is alcohol.
The government has decided that no new liquor shops will be opened. Since 2016, neither a new shop had opened in Delhi, nor will now. 60% are government shops, where a lot of tax evasion takes place.
The Delhi government has decided that there will no government shop and there will be no liquor shop less than 500 square feet.
