West Bengal deprived of Railways funds for years: TMC's Derek O'Brien
On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated West Bengal Rs 6,636 crore for the railway project.
The TMC today hit out at the BJP and its supporters, with Derek O'Brien saying, "In election season, BJP’s tourist gang are touting 'record Railway allocation' for Bengal."
O'Brien added, "The truth is, multiple rail projects have been shelved in Bengal and funding choked all these years."
He said that the fact is that West Bengal has been deprived of Railways funds for years.
But, according to the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, it was the highest ever funds earmarked for the state in the history of Indian Railways.
