West Bengal deprived of Railways funds for years: TMC's Derek O'Brien

  • On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated West Bengal Rs 6,636 crore for the railway project.
  • The TMC today hit out at the BJP and its supporters, with Derek O'Brien saying, "In election season, BJP’s tourist gang are touting 'record Railway allocation' for Bengal."
  • O'Brien added, "The truth is, multiple rail projects have been shelved in Bengal and funding choked all these years."
  • He said that the fact is that West Bengal has been deprived of Railways funds for years.
  • But, according to the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, it was the highest ever funds earmarked for the state in the history of Indian Railways.
