ICMR Allows 5 New Labs For Coronavirus Testing In Uttar Pradesh

  • The Indian Council of Medical Research has allowed five more labs in Uttar Pradesh to conduct coronavirus test. 
  • Till now, eight labs in the state were functional having an overall capacity of about 1,200 tests a day. 
  • The new labs will allow UP to undertake about 1900-2000 tests a day. Principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said, “Adding new labs is a time-taking process."
  • He said, "Before the lockdown, we were able to conduct about 150 tests a day. But now, eight labs are fully functional which has increased our capacity to about 1,200 tests. 
  • Let us tell you, the newly approved labs are at state medical colleges, Agra and Allahabad.
